POST EVENT UPDATE: Participants raised $3,000 for the Patroon Land Farm through the Hike for Hunger. THANK YOU, ONE AND ALL!
Imagine the feel of cool crisp air on a sunny fall day. You and your family and friends are hiking on a picturesque trail at Thacher Park. You walk for a while, taking in the scenery, and at the end of your walk you enjoy some delicious apple cider and tasty cider donuts. Sound good? Make it real. Sign up for our inaugural HIKE FOR HUNGER on October 4. All proceeds benefit the Patroon Land Farm, where we grow more than 100,000 pounds of fresh vegetables for hungry people every year. Join us!

We have food and non-food items to sort and would love to have volunteers sign up for shifts:
~Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings: 5:00 p.m.–7:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.–8:00 p.m.
~Saturdays and Sundays: 9:00 a.m.–11:00 a.m.; 10:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.; and 1:00 p.m.–3:00 p.m.

National Dairy Month is here and we’re celebrating “30 Days of Dairy!” Check out these tips, facts, and recipes on how you can add dairy to your diet to get the nutrients you need every day.
Folks from the American Dairy Association and Dairy Council, Inc. volunteered with us on June 9, sorting thousands of pounds of food for our member agencies. We are so thankful for this support!

Walmart is a strong partner in the fight against hunger, supporting Feeding America and food banks across the country in many ways. In 2013, for example, Walmart provided the Food Bank with grants for multiple projects; donated millions of pounds of food and non-food items from individual stores and its Distribution Center; supplied warehouse volunteers; and maintained active representation on our Board of Directors. In these and other ways, Walmart proved itself a friend to those in need.
Last year, Walmart provided the Food Bank $263,000 in grants alone, enabling us to start new programs, expand others, and fund a portion of our daily operations:
- $105,000 to purchase a truck
- $55,000 to expand the Retail Store Donation Program
- $50,000 to set up a SNAP Outreach Program in Warren County
- $30,000 to expand Mobile Pantry distributions
- $15,000 to offset transportation costs
- $8,000 to fund general operations
Walmart’s food and non-food donations provide member agencies with items that are in high demand such as meat, produce, bathroom tissue, paper towels, and diapers. Low-income people live better when they receive these at their local food pantries.
Walmart’s philanthropic spirit expands the Food Bank’s capacity and allows us to provide critical support to hungry people. We deeply appreciate this partnership.
