Samantha Monks, RDN, Director of Health and Nutrition
Hello! I’m Sam, Director of Health and Nutrition at the Regional Food Bank. As a registered dietitian, I’m passionate about leading our health and nutrition initiatives to ensure our neighbors have access to the nutritious food they need to thrive. I first joined the food bank as the Food As Medicine Manager and gradually transitioned into this role to further our mission. From assessing our inventory to implementing nutrition programs, my goal is for our team to be a trusted resource for our partner network – helping to make healthy food more accessible and empowering communities with nutrition education. Outside of work, food is still a big part of my life! I’m a foodie who loves trying new restaurants, cooking with my husband, gardening, and exploring farmer’s markets. I also enjoy walks with my dogs and staying active outdoors.
“Food Connects Us” means just that – food is deeply woven into so many aspects of life. It is more than just fuel for our bodies; its social, cultural, and a powerful connection. Food brings people together, fosters relationships, strengthens communities and serves as the heart of gatherings, traditions, and moments of care. It has been a central part in my life through family traditions, something I know many can relate to and cherish as well.
Fun fact: I used to live in Hawaii!
