General Electric (GE) and its employees have been major supporters of the Food Bank almost since its inception. It is a challenge to properly capture all the ways they have contributed over the years, and the impact they have had on the Food Bank and the people we serve.

One of the most beneficial actions the Food Bank has ever taken was requesting inclusion in the GE foundation Matching Gifts program. With so many generous GE employees and retirees in our area requesting matching gifts for the Food Bank, we have received an astounding $600,000 through this program in the last 25 years.

Employees of GE Global Research, Renewable Energy, Power Generation, and other departments have contributed in numerous other ways too. They have held fundraising events and food drives, sponsored a school BackPack Program, volunteered at the Food Bank and our Farm, sold CSA shares for the farm, and secured thousands of dollars of funding from GE. A group of Global Research employees annually sponsors a dinner to recognize up to 100 people from our member agencies for the dedicated services they provide. They make all the arrangements and insist on serving the meals. It is one of the highlights of the year for the agency volunteers and staff who attend this special event.

GE employees bring a great passion to everything they do for the Food Bank. It is an honor to call them friends, and to recognize GE as one of our most committed corporate sponsors.
