United Natural Foods, Inc. (UNFI), headquartered in Providence, RI with over 50 distribution centers across the U.S. – including Montgomery, Orange County – is one of the Food Bank’s major food industry partners with over 1.7 million meals donated last year.

UNFI is the largest publicly traded distributor of natural, organic, and conventional grocery products, working behind the scenes in the food industry to bring about 300,000 unique foods and essential items to retailers including supermarket chains and independent specialty stores.

Upon arrival in our region in 2014, the UNFI team has supported the Food Bank. Their quality assurance and inventory staff carefully review and recover refrigerated, frozen, and shelf stable food, which is carefully checked and set aside for the Food Bank to pick up twice each week.

UNFI’s Better for All initiative is a comprehensive commitment to social, environmental, and governance impact to drive positive change, from how its business decisions affect the supply chain and all of the people along the way who make it possible, to making a difference by providing financial support and volunteering as part of their associate driven UNFI Helping Hands program.

“Deliver together to empower each other and win as a team is at the core of all we do,” said John Silvers, General Manager. “Our UNFI Montgomery team takes great pride in our longtime partnership with the Food Bank and being able to have a major impact on providing nutritious food to help increase food access for our neighbors in communities across eastern New York.”
