As the mornings get cooler, many of us start craving warm, comforting flavors. But it’s not quite time for heavy breakfasts yet — which makes overnight oats the perfect “in-between” meal. They’re easy, affordable, and a great way to add a little fall flavor to your day.
This version highlights apples (which are just coming into season!) paired with cinnamon for that cozy fall taste. The best part? You can prep it the night before and have breakfast ready to grab-and-go in the morning.
Ingredients (serves 2):
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 1 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy)
- ½ cup plain yogurt (optional, for creaminess)
- 1 apple, chopped or grated
- 1–2 tsp cinnamon
- 1–2 tsp honey, maple syrup, or sugar (to taste)
- Pinch of salt
Optional Toppings:
- A handful of nuts (walnuts or pecans work well)
- Extra apple slices
- A sprinkle of raisins or dried cranberries
Directions:
- In a jar or container, mix oats, milk, yogurt (if using), apple, cinnamon, sweetener, and salt.
- Stir well, cover, and refrigerate overnight (or at least 4 hours).
- In the morning, give it a stir, add your favorite toppings, and enjoy cold — or microwave for 30–60 seconds if you want it warm.
These oats are fiber-rich, full of flavor, and the perfect way to ease into fall mornings without a lot of effort.
