Many businesses contribute generously to the Food Bank’s work. In this Hunger’s Hope edition, we highlight two great corporate supporters – Sunmark Credit Union and Markertek

Sunmark Credit Union awarding $10K to local organizationsSunmark Credit Union has supported the Regional Food Bank for more than a decade. Their participation began with food drives held throughout their many branches. Since then, they have expanded their hunger relief efforts, annually sending volunteer groups to help sort and repack food in our warehouse. They regularly sponsor and attend Food Bank events like our Mac & Cheese Bowl, Golf Classic, Auction Gala, and Holiday Hunger Appeal. Sunmark employees who participate in their “Dollars for Doers” program earn points for volunteer work throughout the year which can then be converted into Sunmark donations, many of which have been designated to the Regional Food Bank. In addition, Sunmark employees have provided strategic guidance and direction, with a representative serving on our Board of Directors since 2017 and as an officer of the board since 2020. We are grateful for the friendship we have developed with Sunmark Credit Union and their team of dedicated employees, and we thank them for everything they do to support our work.

Markertek: Video Cameras, Intercom, Wireless Mics, Cable, ConnectorMarkertek (Tower Products, Inc.) is a 100% employee-owned company with headquarters in Saugerties that offers a wide range of broadcast and audio solutions for the media industry. Tower is clear about its community commitment: “Feeding the hungry is our corporate mission.” To that end, the late Mark Braunstein, Markertek’s founder, began the Markertek Open Golf Tournament 26 years ago. This outstanding event, organized by Tower’s “Power Team” of employees, has raised an astounding $751,771.63 over the past 26 years, an amount that has provided 3 million meals to our neighbors in need. Tower employees, as well as vendors and sponsors from all over the country, take part in this friendly, full-day tournament that sells out every year, and Tower employees volunteer their time to run the event. Separate from the Tournament, Tower has donated an additional $359,600 over the years to the Food Bank of the Hudson Valley and the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York. Thank you, Markertek, for your commitment to alleviating hunger!
