Volunteers are the lifeblood of what we do. In 2024, more than 24,000 people donated more than 60,000 hours of service. That’s the equivalent of 29 full-time employees. Without your help, we simply couldn’t fulfill our mission.
Volunteer Opportunities
We welcome individuals and groups to help sort donations at our distribution centers in Latham and Montgomery. In season, we invite volunteers to assist at our farm in Voorheesville. Food Distributions and other volunteer opportunities are available throughout our 23-county service area.
At our distribution centers, you will sort and repack bulk donations to be distributed to our neighbors in need.
At our farm, you will help plant, water, and pick various vegetables, herbs, and flowers to offer our community members in need.
At our Food Distribution events, you will help box or bag food items and place them in neighbors’ cars or baskets. These events take place in area neighborhoods (see opportunity listings for specific locations).

How To Register for a Shift
Individual and Family Registration
If you would like to volunteer as an individual, family, or small group of friends, open our Individual and Family Sign-Up form below. Select openings that fit your schedule. Click “Register for an Event” to create your secure volunteer profile in our system.
To add family members:
- After you create a volunteer profile, you will be directed to the “Volunteer Management” page
- Click “Create New Volunteer and Duplicate Profile Information” for the family member being added
- You will be directed to the “Add Volunteer” profile creation page
- Add the family member’s first name in the “Volunteer First Name” field
Group Registration
If you are volunteering as a group as part of a team-building exercise, open and complete the Group Sign-Up Form below.
