The Regional Food Bank wishes to provide volunteers with safe, productive, rewarding experiences, and to that end created a Code of Conduct which all volunteers are required to follow.
Code of Conduct for Volunteers
- Volunteers will listen to and follow instructions of Volunteer Engagement Team.
- Volunteers will dress appropriately for work in a warehouse (closed-toe, sturdy shoes are required; in layers when it’s cold; in clothes that can get dirty).
- Volunteers will stay away from moving equipment and machinery.
- Volunteers will not bring weapons to the Regional Food Bank. This includes, but is not limited to, guns and knives.
- Volunteers will exercise reasonable care and use accepted safety precautions in carrying out assigned duties. Horseplay, pushing, running, and chasing are all unsafe and not permitted.
- Volunteers will not use headphones, iPods, or other electronic devices while volunteering. Cell phone use is permitted only in designated areas.
- Volunteers will only consume food or beverages in approved areas.
- Volunteers will not consume any Regional Food Bank product or remove it from the premises for personal use. This includes items deemed as trash.
- Volunteers will report all accidents or injuries immediately to the Volunteer Engagement Team.
- Volunteers will notify the Volunteer Engagement Team, if at any time they are unable to fulfill the duties to which they have been assigned.
- Volunteers will listen to the Volunteer Engagement Team for evacuation instructions in the event of a fire alarm.
- Volunteers will help create a kind and respectful environment and alert the Volunteer Engagement Team if there is an issue or conflict. Harsh words, harassment of any kind, or profanity will not be tolerated.
- Volunteers who fail to follow these directions may be asked to leave and not return.
